Biography
Richard Alderman has been the Director of the Serious Fraud Office since April 2008. The SFO is responsible in the UK for the most complex investigations and prosecutions relating to fraud and overseas corruption.
Before joining the SFO, Richard held a number of senior roles in the Inland Revenue/HM Revenue and Customs. These roles gave him extensive experience of very complex financial investigations and criminal prosecution.
Richard is a barrister. He is a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Anti-Corruption and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Ethics and Law at University College, London. He frequently speaks at international conferences on issues such as anti-corruption and economic crime generally.
