If you believe you have knowledge of a significant fraud and want to report it, you should first contact.
Referral of cases
Most SFO cases result from initial inquiries undertaken by the various police forces who then refer the case to us.
Who else refers cases to us?
Government departments and regulatory bodies such as the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform
, HM Revenue & Customs
, Financial Services Authority
, (or sometimes individuals) may refer cases to us when they appear sufficiently serious or complex.
Launching an inquiry without a referral
We can launch an inquiry without a referral if there is reason to believe that a major and complex fraud has been committed.
