MILK DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL - 1 charged

Following his surrender today at Stroud Police Station, Patrick Charles Morris was charged with Forgery, false accounting and publishing a false statement.

Background:

Pursuant to a joint investigation by the SFO and the Gloucestershire Constabulary, Patrick Charles Morris, the former Finance Manager of the Milk Development Council has been charged with 1) Forgery, contrary to s.1 of the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981. 2) False

Accounting, contrary to S.17 (1) of the Theft Act 1968. 3) Publishing a False Statement, contrary to S.19 (1) of the Theft Act 1968.

Notes for editors

  • The case was referred to the SFO by the Gloucestershire Constabulary on 23 January 2001 and accepted for investigation by the Director on 9 February 2001.
  • The Defendant has been released on unconditional bail until 28 August 2002 when he will appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court.
  • Full and precise charges will not be made available until after the Magistrates' Court hearing (above).
  • This is a joint investigation with by SFO and the Gloucestershire Police Fraud Squad.
