Asil Nadir ordered to pay £5 million

Today at the Central Criminal Court Asil Nadir was ordered to pay £5 million compensation to Polly Peck International Plc in respect of losses suffered by the company.  

The Hon Mr Justice Holroyde ordered that it be paid in two years and that a default prison sentence of 72 months is to apply for failure to comply with the order.  

No order was made in respect of costs.   N

  1. Asil Nadir was convicted of ten counts of theft amounting to nearly £29 million from Polly Peck International Plc. See SFO press release of 22 August 2012 and was, on the following day, sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment.
