SFO charges luxury car dealer for withholding evidence

26 May, 2023 | News Releases

Today at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) charged the self-styled multi-millionaire supercar salesman Thomas Hartley with withholding information from its ongoing fraud investigation.

The SFO is currently investigating Raedex Consortium, a company that attracted thousands of investors in its car lease scheme over nine years, before it collapsed in 2021. As part of its investigation, the SFO has already conducted searches across two properties and made one arrest.

Mr Hartley is suspected of holding information related to a suspect in the case and had been asked to provide this four times by SFO investigators, before he was eventually taken to court.

Mr Hartley will be tried at City of London Magistrates’ Court on 12th October.

Lisa Osofsky, Director of the Serious Fraud Office, said:

“Losing one’s life savings to an investment scheme is a terrible ordeal for those affected and we won’t let individuals like Mr Hartley stand in the way while we investigate.”
