On the 16th May 2019, the SFO announced its investigation into certain aspects of biodiesel trading at Greenergy and various third parties.

On 30 April 2019, searches were conducted at five sites across the UK and additional sites in the Netherlands and Belgium. Four individuals were arrested and released without charge.

On 25 February 2021, biodiesel trader and former employee at Greenergy, Gianni Rivera, was charged at Westminster Magistrates’ Court with two counts of fraud by abuse of position and one count of money laundering. The trial is expected to commence on 12 September 2022.

Greenergy and its current employees are no longer suspects in the investigation.

This is a joint investigation with the Dutch authorities.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further comment or information can be provided at this time.
